On-line processing of the Intermodal Card
Since the introduction of free public transport, the number of applications for new Intermodal cards has been rising. In order to meet this increase in demand, the Majorca Transport Consortium has been progressively expanding its customer service by opening new card issuing points and reinforcing existing centres.
The Intermodal Card can be applied for in person at the TIB offices, as well as through local councils. Applications can also be made online through the common electronic register (REGUERA) of the General State Administration (rec.redsara.es/registro). All you need is a digital certificate, and you can then send the application to the Department of Mobility and Housing attaching the required documentation, depending on the type of card you are applying for. In order to make this online procedure easier, the town councils of Majorca are serving as collection points, so service users who carry out the procedure online don't have to go to the TIB offices and can collect the card directly from their town council. In the section of the website Discover your Intermodal Card (see Card Profiles) you will find a manual which explains how to apply for the card through the Common Electronic Register (REC) to facilitate access for citizens.
Improving information and communication channels with users is one of the objectives of the Consorcio de Transportes de Mallorca [Majorca Transport Consortium]. In this regard, since last July the TIB has had a new website offering more online services such as the How to get there search engine, for finding the quickest route by public transport, or the possibility of topping up the Intermodal Card online. In the eight months that the tib.org website has been up and running it has achieved 4 million visits, 54.88% more than during the same months in 2019.
