The Majorcan Transport Consortium (CTM) is working to improve Palma's Intermodal Station. The first action that is already effective has been the installation of six new industrial fans in the bus terminal of the TIB network, which have improved the ventilation of the bus docks since a few days ago.
Until now, the bus docks had an air renewal system that was not been sufficient to cope with the increased temperatures of recent summers. For this reason, the CTM has taken all the necessary steps to install six HVLS (High Volume Low Speed) industrial fans in this area of the station.
This equipment is used in all types of buildings to achieve more pleasant thermal sensations when ambient temperatures are high. This action has involved an investment of €40,920.47 (excluding VAT), which corresponds to the contract award price.
In addition to the installation of fans in the bus docks for air renewal, the CTM is working on the refurbishment of the escalators, which is currently in the tendering process. Other planned actions include replacing the main entrance doors to the station, improving the tactile floor, refurbishing the public toilets and the information and customer service office.
All these improvements are financed by the Insularity Factor of the Special Regime for the Balearic Islands for a total amount of approximately €2.5 million. The Govern continues to work to improve the infrastructure of interurban public transport in Majorca with the aim of guaranteeing a quality and safe service for all users.
