The new bus stop for the TIB and EMT Palma network buses at Palma airport, which has been under construction for the last few months, comes into service this coming Friday, 8 August. This way, all the public bus lines of both the TIB inter-city network (Aerotib lines) and the city network (EMT Palma) will be located in the new location and will offer a better service and comfort to users waiting for their bus.
Users travelling to the airport this summer, whether for work or to catch a flight, can get around for free with the Intermodal Card. Those who do not have a TIB network transport ticket have the option of travelling with a bank card. Whether debit or credit, it enables users to travel without having to buy a ticket in advance and is cheaper than buying a single ticket from the driver.
The airport lines of the TIB network carried more than 500,000 passengers between April and June this year, 5.7% more than in the same period last year. The improvements introduced this year by the Government in the inter-city bus service in Majorca, through the modification of the contracts of the three concessions, to adapt the service to the demand and the increase in users in recent years — 20% more in 2024 — have made it possible, among other measures, to increase the Aerotib service and guarantee its operation throughout the year.
The inter-city public transport network bus connects different areas of Majorca to make it easier for passengers to get around. In this sense, the four lines of the Aerotib service connect both residential and tourist centres with Palma airport. Of the 500,000 users who have travelled to the airport in the last three months (April-May-June), 28% have used the A42 line that connects Cala Bona, Cala Millor, Sa Coma, S'Illot, Portocristo, Manacor, Vilafranca, Montuïri and Algaida with the airport. 27% chose the A32 to travel between the bay of Alcúdia, Sa Pobla, Inca and the airport. The A11 line along the coast of Calvià and the A51 line that passes through Campos, Llucmajor and S'Arenal accounted for 25% and 20% respectively of the total number of passengers on the Aerotib lines.
The airport lines run from early morning to midnight at an average frequency of 45 to 50 minutes. Line A11 resumed service in December, while the other lines did so in March and April. The airport service will have year-round continuity from now on.
