The Balearic Minister for Land, Energy and Mobility, Marc Pons, as chairman of the Mallorca Transport Consortium, and the Mayor of Bunyola, Andreu Bujosa Bestard, today signed the collaboration agreement to provide free public transport for secondary school pupils living in Bunyola.
This agreement is the result of an initiative by Bunyola Council to subsidise pupils in who travel to secondary schools in Sóller and Palma using the 211 (Puerto de Sóller-Palma) and 220 (Bunyola-Palma) bus routes on the TIB network.
The commitment by the Mallorca Transport Consortium includes providing Bunyola Council with a portable ticket machine.
In turn, the council has agreed to handle the free top-up of the T20 saver tickets (0-1 zone hops) for Intermodal Card holders who are residents of Bunyola and registered at schools in Palma and Sóller, and to fund the initiative from the 2019 council budget up to a maximum of €3,000 (VAT included).
Students from Bunyola wishing to benefit from the free transport need to have the Intermodal Card, which allows for multi-trip top-ups. The Bunyola Council website will publish the relevant information on when the card can be topped up.
The Intermodal Card can be obtained at Bunyola Town Hall or in Palmanyola. The card can also be obtained at the TIB customer service offices in Palma, Inca and Manacor.
