The shuttle bus linking Puerto de Pollença with Formentor Peninsula is now operating, coinciding with the start of the agreed traffic restrictions.
From 9 July motor vehicle access to Formentor Peninsula will be restricted between the beach and the lighthouse from 10:00 to 19:00. The Government of the Balearic Islands has provided a bus service so that visitors can go to the main points of interest in this natural area. The bus will leave from the central stop in Puerto de Pollença.
The new service will link Puerto de Pollença with Formentor Peninsula with departures from the central stop and also from Formentor Beach, which is where the traffic restrictions begin. The new central stop in Puerto de Pollença includes free parking.
The shuttle bus stops at Mirador de Es Colomer lookout point, Playa de Formentor beach, Cala Murta/Cala Figuera coves and the Faro lighthouse. Timetables can be found here.
The new service is part of the current line 353, which starts its journey in Puerto de Pollença. The cost of a single ticket is €1.55 and frequent users of TIB public transport can use the intermodal card to benefit from the discounts it offers and also the T20 and T40 saver tickets. This season the bus will operate until 31 August.
Shuttle buses are a sustainable alternative to get to natural places of interest in Mallorca that are currently saturated by cars. By providing buses, the Government of the Balearic Islands is promoting appropriate conservation of our natural spaces and is also making areas that attract tourism accessible to the island’s residents and visitors.
The system to access Formentor has been coordinated by the Government of the Balearic Islands (through the Mallorca Transport Consortium, CTM), the Council of Mallorca, the Town Council of Pollença, the Directorate General of Traffic, the Civil Guard and the Port Authority (owner of Formentor Lighthouse).
