Now more young people can get a discount on interurban public transport

nterurban public transport users under the age of 31 can now benefit from the Intermodal Card for young people. The Mallorca Transport Consortium has extended the age range, which previously had an upper limit of 25, so that more young people can benefit from the 50% discount on the price of a single ticket.
A total of 8,200 current users of the general Intermodal Card are thought to be eligible for the
Youth Card. People currently under 31 can now apply for the Youth Card from any of the TIB customer service offices (Palma, Inca, and Manacor) or from the municipal offices of certain town halls.
All cards issued before 11 January expire on the user’s 26th birthday. Current users who will soon be turning 26 and already have this card are advised to take it to a TIB office or municipal office to have the expiry data extended.
The new measure, which came into effect on the day after it was published in the Balearic Islands Official Gazette, was approved in February of last year by the Balearic Islands Parliament and validated by the various advisory bodies of the Mallorca Transport Consortium. The Consortium’s board of directors gave its definitive approval on 15 November last year.
The Intermodal Card not only provides discounts for young people, it also benefits other groups, such as members of large families, people over the age of 65, people receiving a pension (the retired, widowed, or disabled), the long-term unemployed and victims of gender violence.
