Next week the Majorcan train service, Servicios Ferroviarios de Mallorca (SFM), will start operating night trains every Friday and Saturday from 6 July to 1 September.
These trains will only run between Palma and Inca because the rail line to Manacor is currently undergoing electrification works.
Trains will run as normal during the day on Fridays and Saturdays. The special night service will start from midnight. A total of five outbound and five inbound trains will run in the peak summer season and they will stop at every station. Timetables can be found here.
The aim of this service is to make it easier and more convenient to get around in July and August when many festivals, fairs and other events are organised. Travelling by train is an alternative to driving to attend these summer events.
In recent years SFM has increased its public transport offering with special services during specific celebrations, including Dijous Bo Fair, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Sa Vermada Festival, to help residents get to events by public transport.
SFM has also provided special trains for one-off events like the Operación Triunfo TV show concert attended by thousands to help decrease road traffic and make travelling more convenient.
