Wearing a mask on public transport will be obligatory from Monday

This increases safety against catching COVID-19 during the lockdown easing phase.

From Monday, 4 May, all users making journeys on the bus, train or metro will have to wear a mask. The phased return to work starting next week will lead to an increase in the use of public transport. Residents are asked to obligatorily wear a mask when travelling on public transport and to always maintain the safety distance of 2 m whenever possible.

This new measure is in addition to previous measures in place since the beginning of lockdown, such as travelling alone, avoiding paying in cash by using the intermodal card instead and always leaving the two rows closest to the TIB bus driver empty. Since the start of the state of alarm, the maximum bus capacity has been reduced to ensure a minimum safety distance between users.

We are grateful for users’ cooperation in avoiding unnecessary journeys at the moment.
